Sanders, Burris — the new intelligentsia

A key Florida legislative committee leader  is quoted in the Miami Herald as saying the “Arkansas model,” meaning this use of federal Medicaid dollars to buy private health insurance for poor people, is something to look at it.

“What Arkansas did — it wasn’t even a concept. I didn’t even think about it,” said Lake O’ Lakes Republican Richard Corcoran.

I am compelled to report that, from what I’m told, this “premium support” notion in Arkansas came from young Republican legislative working groups led by Sen. David Sanders, a former Stephens Media understudy columnist to me, and Rep. John Burris, former Burger King manager in Harrison.

Great country or what?

  1. If Sanders and Burris suddenly became in charge at Walmart, Tyson, or you name it, it would make the banking crisis of 2007-08 look like a mirage. Are those two shysters reporting their expense allowance on their tax returns? Who in reality is paying their living expenses – the Kochs?

  2. The Burger King experience trumps everything. After reading the Time magazine article that points out the costs savings in Medicare over private health plans, I suspect there are some big payoffs somewhere. The profits on the $75 box of Kleenex and $50 needles can really add up. They also pointed out that simply prohibiting Medicare from shopping drug prices from negotiating drug prices costs the US 150 billion per year. Isn’t private enterprise and competition wonderful.

  4. This effort to privatize is really something: Has anyone besides me figured out that paying advertising, agent’s commissions, and the cost of people to answer the phone and deny claims is more expensive?
Can’t wait until they deciode to privatize Social Security. Bernie Madoff will then look like small fry as Wall Street steals trillions.
Still haven’t figured out how the government is paying contractors for guard duty when the military could do it (and did when I was was in.)
